I really haven't picked up the camera since Christmas. I did clean my sensor, I realized shooting 10fps sprayed oil all over the sensor. Not sure how to pre-plan for airshows to make sure the sensor stays clean. Do I fire away before hand then clean the sensor, or will it still get sprayed and dirty when I use it?

I must say the 1d3 kicks the backside of the lowly xTi. The 1d3 only misses when you screw up, the xTi is a crap shoot unless you are under very specific conditions.

Well, I shot with the 1D3 for all my various sports action stuff, and Hey, the camera is/was great both for th 10 fps and also for its ability to get and keep some very good focus in the process! its "companion for that stuff tended to be the "old" 70-200 f/2.8L IS lens, that was a great combination!

I don't recall ever having that problem with the sensor getting sprayed and dirtyIt just doesn't ring a bell to me!

but sure, as to performance, it beats the heck out ofother rigs!

But, due to financial problems, I did have to unload the 1D3 as well as two great lenses, the 70-200 and also the 24-70 f/2.8 IS,and since those days, my photography has been on quite a dip... :(

I will say, though, that I still posess two Canon DSLRs, the trusty old 30D and the wonderful 5D Classic, and a few lenses, including my fine old 100mm f/2.8 Macro (not the IS version) and also my 24-105 and my 100-400 IS, and, believe me, those rigs are still capable of getting some great stuff! Hey, there is a reason why the 5DC is still to this day really "admired"!

And, interestingly, when I first got into arial/airplane photography as well as active bird/wildlife photography, I used the 5DC, and that old Classic came up with some very nice results! It helped that I was using the "old" Beautiful 300mm f/2.8 IS lens, and they worked well together!
