A bull moose rests his chin on a cow's rump to test her readiness to mate during the rut. If a cow moose remains tolerant of him mating will take place but she was obviously not ready that morning.

The moose rut (i.e. breeding season) begins in mid September and continues into October in Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario.
