Need a travel camera

I am looking for a good, but inexpensive travel camera. Am interested in the Powershot SX700 but am concerned whether the focus is slow, as experienced on my old bridge camera. Any thoughts, please?

Unless you're shooting action shots, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

What other requirements do you have for the device. Must it be something that can fit in a pocket?

I've used the SX260, 280 and now the 710. Nice devices. Easy to use, fit is a (large) pocket. For me, the 710 is the back-up for my SX50 which is my primary camera when hiking. For shorter trips or business trips when I think I will need a camera, I will only take the SX710 (although I am using my phone more often as well).
