Any suggestions on camera backpacks AND camera bags? I want to get one where I can store my laptop and other items. I also want a small camera bag/ side bag that I can just carry with me if I'm just going to take some pictures with friends or so. Thank you!

Hi there. I've always liked Think Tank gear. I have the Streetwalker Harddrive Pro, which has a generous pocket for a lap top, plus plenty of space for gear. I've had several different configurations in it over the years. One was for two pro (1D/1Ds type) and one standard bodies, plus a 17-40L, 70-200L, 50mm, batteries, flash, filters, etc. Another was with my 400 DO, one pro body, as well as the 17-40, 70-200, G1xMkII, filters, batteries, etc. There definitely is plenty of room in there for your "command central" kit. Think Tank also has smaller bags that you can then use to grab a minimal amount of gear for side trips, or hanging with friends, as you say. Give them a look

Me too, I second pbrimages.
In my opinion, I would recommend the Think Tank Citywalker 30.

I've got the Protactic 450 from Lowepro. I can get my 7DII with sigma 150-600 mounted, 5DIII, 100 macro, 24-105, 1.4X extender in the camera compartment. Then a 15" macbook pro, 5 batteries, my Big stopper and associated stuff, and other misc. with it. Room for a water bottle on the side, and another pocket I don't use, yet lol. I'm 6'5, it almost fits my length, not quite, but I make it work. It has a rain fly, and it's pretty water resistant without it. I'm pretty happy with it.

I like Fstop for backpacks and Billingham for messenger bags.

I have the Peak Design Everyday Backpack and Sling. My two most favorite bags so far. I pretty much unloaded most of my bags and exclusively use them. They are so versatile.

I reviewed both of them and even have videos of them

I also have gear load videos as well.
