I like the look of photos viewed online with borders. I am wondering though how it looks when they are printed. I am working on printing a lot of my images to 8x10 so I can show my work to my less technologically advanced family members, who refuse to use the internet and/or don't value digital images as much as prints. Since these images will just be placed into 8x10 archival photo sleeves and stored in a 3 ring binder, I am not sure if the border is needed. I understand that the border is often used when the photo is to be matted and framed, and also to protect the edges of the image when handling, but neither of those issues will apply in my case.
Anyone have any examples of a printed photo, non-framed, with a border? Suggestions on whether to include or avoid? The only reasoning I can think of is to have a more uniform look to the portfolio, where each image has the same border and my signature. Might have a nice look, but I am still not sold on it.
Thanks in advance!
