I applaud your attempt but flowers, by themselves, tend to be old hat. If you've seen one.....blah, blah

Now having said that........Bad part-why pick a damaged flower?

Good part- if the pistil and stamen were your main focus, good job.

Suggestion- try using a reflector to bring out more detail

Thanks for your comment. My main focus was pistil and stamen. There were couple flowers, but only this one good for lighting direction

Red is never easy especially with flowers......at least for me. All in all a nice image though.

Flowers may be "old hat" to some, but others see the beauty in every flower, every time they bloom. Personally, I enjoy looking at flowers but really not too big on photographing them.

That said, I take a lot of flower shots because my wife's hobby is gardening and she loves her flowers. She loves the pictures I take of them just slightly less and on rare occasion (if I do well) even more.

The easiest way for me to keep our relationship warm as I spend more and more money on my hobby is by occasionally using that gear to take pictures of her flowers for her.

I believe that is what is called a "symbiotic relationship" ;)

I like the shot, though I do agree that the damaged petal detracts from the overall image. I don't think it would be too difficult to "repair" in post though

.

I like it - the 'damage' has given a great composition opportunity, which you caught. Well seen. I have to admit I'd be tempted to clone out the break, though.
