For once I was in the right place at the right time to capture this Crested Caracara and this Yellow-headed Caracara in a fight over a perch. They both held it briefly, but there was no clear winner in my view. Again, from Panama.

I would not recognize the Yellow-headed as a Caracara.... Nice catch!

Thank you. They are in different genera. In total, there are only four extant caracara species, two in each of two genera.

Thank you all very kindly for taking the time to comment. Caracaras of both species are quite common in Panama.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.
