Hi,
I will be heading to the Grand Teton/YellowStone/Glacier National in late July. I need some insight how much memory storage do I need. Do you shoot raw or jpeg or both?
thanks,

Feb 24, 2017 18:07 | #2 The question is, do YOU shoot raw or jpeg or both? Is YOUR camera 5 megs or 24 megs or something in between? Are YOU shooting just scenery or just wildlife or both? Anyway figure on several hundred to over a thousand images per day depending on YOUR preferences. Memory cards are relatively cheap or bring along a laptop and external drive and transfer each days pics to them or the cloud. If this is going to be YOUR only trip to the parks don't short your self on pic memory. 80D, 70D, Sigma 18-35 f1.8 DC HSM ART, 24-70 f2.8L, Sigma 150-600 f5-6.3 DG OS HSM C, 430 EX II, Induro AM24 w/3Pod H1, CT214 w/PHQ-1, and several cold beers.

When I'm in Yellowstone or the Tetons I keep an average of around 300 images a day. So if you have the same shooting habits I do, just multiply 300 times the number of days you'll be there by the size of your image files........that will give you an approximate idea of how much data your cards will need to hold. I shoot only RAW. "Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.

Sorry, I should have stated that I will be bringing 5dmk3 with me and staying for 13 days. Currently, I have 2 x 32gb and 1 x 16gb SD. I will be shooting the wildlife and scenery. Xsi|24-105mm f4.0|70-200mm f4.0|85mm f.18

Feb 25, 2017 21:06 | #9 Are the 32 gig cards CF or SD? You're going to need more cards unless you have a laptop with you and back up and erase every day. Ive had a couple of cards fail on me so I'm a bit paranoid, I would also bring an external B/U drive like 1TB for less than $100 its good piece of mind if something were to ever happen to the laptop.

What is a B/U drive? .I googled the term, and didn't come up with anything relevant. .This causes me to this that "B/U drive" is probably not a term that most people are familiar with, so I thought it would be helpful if you could explain what it is that you are talking about. "Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
