7D MkII - will not turn on

MY 7D Mk II tonight was taking photos for my cousin at a concert of his. I turned off the camera, a few minutes later tried to turn it back on and it will not come to life. Back home an inserted freshly charged batteries and still will not turn on. Anyone else have this issue.

You said "batteries" ... are you using the battery grip? If so, make certain the grip has not loosened from the camera body. Happens sometimes.

Yes I use a grip, I took it off and used the internal battery. Still will not turn on. Before it happen the camera showed an "err" on the display so I turned it off and back on it worked for a second then shut down.

Try removing and replacing the lens. I got an error on my once, I seem to have fixed this way.

I switched lens, fully charged all 4 batteries, nothing

Sorry to hear that. Could be one of the circuit boards gave up the ghost. Hopefully you are still under warranty; send it in to get checked out.

I purchased it new in November 2105, with Extended Warranty thru National Camera Exchange in the Twin Cities. Went to the store and they are sending it out - 4-8 weeks out. I have owned Canon cameras since 1978 and this is the first one I had to send in for any repair work. I hope this the one and only time for repair, as the camera has under 10k clicks.

Things to check.
Battery door switch. Make sure that it's closing.
CF card switch, same thing. An open door will not let the camera power up.
Make sure power switch is not stuck between settings.

Also might try powering up without lens and CF card installed just to get back to basics.

4-8 weeks? if you sent it to canon yourself, you'd have it back in a week probably...i wonder why it takes so long with the third party warranty...although sending it to canon you would have to pay for it all yourself...

Bummer, I hope it is a switch, should be simple and fast, but definitely get it in there.

4 to 8 weeks is not surprising to me. "Cushion" is often built into these estimates to cover various things. For instance, the owner may get the camera back to the store on Sunday, but they only ship to the warranty provider on Friday. The warranty place may not do repairs, they may ship to a repair facility. Close to 2 weeks already, and a fix hasn't started! All in the eyes of the end user as to expectations but often a refurb is sent back. Fine print is repair or replace, at the option of the warranty people...another reason to think twice about getting optional warranties.

It has been shipped to Canon as the warranty company could not fix the issue. So, the waiting game continues. I have owned Canon cameras since 1977 and this is the first one sent in for repairs. Call me lucky but a little nervous also about the outcome. Do I get my camera back with under 3k clicks or a refurbished one with a lot more clicks.

I've never heard of a refurb with more than a couple hundred clicks, so in all probability, you'll come out ahead. Minus all the hassle, of course!

My 7D2 ticked over the 73,000 mark... so a few clicks here or there is no biggie

I am curious as to what the problem is.
