Ukrainian Life

Instead of my random posts from my life and travel in Ukraine maybe its better to start a thread and simply update it regularly. So, here it is!!

I live pretty much full time here working on the Chernobyl decommissioning project. Since arriving here 4 years ago I have married local girl, travelled around, moved to Qatar and moved back to Ukraine again. Love the place

There are not many posts on POTN re Eastern Europe and certainly not Ukraine. Feel free to add any of your own if you live here or have visited my adopted new home. Maybe we can get a meet in Kiev going if there are many others living here.

Anyway, here is todays post. It was the end of winter festival today although the weather didn't seem to notice as it was snowing again!!

Thanks for posting these, your life and work there must be fascinating. The pictures are excellent, and black and white works really well for them. Please keep posting.

I am on vacation for a week now but will be posting a lot more when I return. Pleased you like them.

I really do. Sorry, I wrote that previous post in a bit of a rush and hope it didn't sound too cold. I think the Black and White works excellently and the compositions are really nice. They show a lot in a very clean way. Depth of field is really nice, they look cinematic. I really liked them.

Do you have any from the reactor area and Pripyat that you can share, or is that against the rules?

Pictures of the actual reactor area are a lot more tricky to get so I have none I'm afraid.

If you ever come to Ukraine there are tours from Kiev that you can take. They go to Prypiat then pass the reactor and the new arch. A couple of my friends have done them and said they were really good. Around $100 each I think.

Very nice, thanks for sharing! It's fascinating how quickly nature has reclaimed the buildings.

I'd love to see that area but the radiation fear is enough to put the shanks on that for me.
