I'm not even going to look at that link. I know I can't see red very well.

Interesting phenomena - I still see red though, despite the "no red pixels" in the image claim.

It seems I cannot coax my brain into “un-seeing” the red strawberries, even when there are no red pixels in the image.:-)

Cheers

Dennis

You know they *should* be red...this is a great example of why color management and White Balance are so important when creating your images.

Well, you must ignore all links, so what's the point of announcing it?

Funny, Lightroom sees just about as much red in this photo as I do. If there is no red, what is LR seeing?

Additive color, HOW DOES IT WORK?!?!?

I realize you are a hobbiest photographer, but make a grey image and see what the histogram looks like.

I'm in a pissy mood, but the article is stupid.

Fake news. Sad!

:P

light source difference most definitely changes perceived color, just as two objects the same color in one light source can look significantly different in another aource of light. Its called metamerism and occurs because of the different reflective characteristics of available colorants.

Thats a little different than what they are discussing but related. What can happen with their example is called viewer metamerism...resulting from the difference in perceived color between people.

Bassat and LHB are right. "...a picture with absolutely no red pixels." Either the article is intentionally misleading or it has been written by somebody with no knowledge or understanding of digital color imaging. It is true that there are no "red pixels" if by that is meant a pixel with only red content. But color pixels are tri-channel, i.e. RGB, so a "red pixel" would one with some measure of red (1-255) and zero green and blue. It's true that there are in this image no pixels like that, but it is also true that every pixel in the image - the berries, the plate, the table top - has a red component. It's all a matter of proportions.

I'd guess neither, it was on the BBC news home page, just about the most verified and checked page on the net, it was however written for the average Joe, not a POTN reader.
