Here's that my test brought out. If I put Grp A on Ettl or M 1/8 exact same result black bar about 40% of the bottom (or right when shooting portrait).

Here's the settings duplicating nixland's still got the black bar.

I got a PC Sync cable today and still causes the black bar exposing for the screens hid the cable but you can see the red light of the 622 beside the 360 not on it.

When you had the PC sync cable attached to the flash and 622C, did you use the 3.5 plug at the top? Also when you had the cable plugged in, did you take it off SS and put it back to M?

Yes PC on the 622 3.5 jack on the 360. I tried every setting including M.

Not sure if it will help but you could try a factory reset on the 622. hold down the ch and gp at the same time till the blinks go away.

Also check on the TX if you messed with the SS delay setting in any way.

Is there a reset on the TX? I reset the receiver, and I've tried all of the different SS 0.0 0.5 1.0 1.5 etc. No change.

Yea, hold down the mode and sync. It will reset the TX.

If you have access to 5DII (yours or your friend's) please try on it too. Who knows it won't work on 6D.

I'm trying 6D and 70D. I don't have access to a 5D2. I'm trying to do the TX firmware update now.

That did it. I went from firmware 1.06 to firmware 1.10 and first pop at 1/1000 was evenly illuminated. I still can't get it to work without the cable, but I can probably live with that.

Nixland If you hold down Mode while turning on your TX it will say what firmware you are on. I'd be curious to see what it is. Interestingly changing the SS setting worked now but only in the wrong direction. at 0.0 40% of the frame was black. At 0.5 70%, at 1.2 100%. I just need a negative number.

Well I have no idea. As far as I can tell I've done everything exactly the same as you. I'm working now with the cable. I updated the OP for the next guy who comes along searching. But I have trouble letting stuff like this go. Obviously it can work without the cable.

I'm glad you at least got it working with the cable. Just curious, did you try SS without cable on 1/1 power with the new firmware update? As far as I knew (not sure anymore because nixland has it working) that was the only way to make it work.

For what it is worth, your settings shown below were not exactly the same as Nixland's. Nixland had channels B and C set to 'Off'. You had left them 'On' and set to 'M' not 'SS'. Could this be the issue?
