I'm considering getting a Canon 7D MKII body. I currently use Lightroom version 5.7. Will this version of Lightroom recognize files from the 7D2? Thanks.

Mar 14, 2017 19:14 | #6 Thanks all for the replies. Going forward if I didn't have the latest version of Lightroom could I copy the raw files into Lightroom as DNG files? I went to the Adobe training site and they explained the benefit of dng files but didn't clarify if you still need the latest Lightroom version to coincide with the camera to properly convert to dng. 1DX MK II, 5D MKIV x2, 24L II, 35L II, 50L, 85LIS, 100LIS Macro, 135L, 16-35LIS, 24-105LIS II, 70-200LIS, 100-400LIS II

Once you convert to DNG, any version should be able to open your raws. You may want to check this out:

You may want to check this out: https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1472058 Thanks for the thread. I have such a smooth workflow now (insert card, Lightroom open automatically, sees photos, I click import, all done). I tried the "copy to DNG" tab at top of page and it works fine with my present camera that Lightroom recognizes. So going forward if I can't get your program to work I simply convert to DNG first then manually open Lightroom and import. Sort of like going to Canon's DPP program, batch converting to TIFF files and then importing to Lightroom. I tried that a while back but the 16 bit TIFF's were huge compared to raw files. The DNG files are a bit smaller than the raw so every little bit helps. Again, thanks for the help. 1DX MK II, 5D MKIV x2, 24L II, 35L II, 50L, 85LIS, 100LIS Macro, 135L, 16-35LIS, 24-105LIS II, 70-200LIS, 100-400LIS II

This is probably not such an issue if you are only going back one generatiion of software, but if you are using older versions especially CS2 which Adobe have mmade a free download, you will need to check you are exporting to the correct flavour of DNG.
