This popped up in my Google News feed. Looks like a bad translation.

Any recent Canon strategy conference document that has been published for the year of 2017 they are taking measures to reduced the overall production cost of the DSLR at maximum extent.
The automation of entire production system will going to reduce the production cost drastically. This has been already started with the mass production of DSLR by utilizing automated instruments, incorporating production Technology cultivated through the large assemblies of cameras.
This year Canon will be – extending its manufacturing process to other models.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

It is not a bad translation, just poor writing in general by the writers of the article. The article lists the source and the obvious mistakes in the article were made when New Camera cut and pasted content, not from the original source itself.

Here is the information from Canon they list as the source. http://www.canon.com …n2017/housin2017ceo-e.pdf (external link)

They are going to need to work pretty hard to catch up. Frame rate, silent shutters, better sensors, and more. Right now I couldn't see myself getting a Canon M when Fuji and Sony have much better options.

Sony A7 III and some lenses
