Zion, Bryce, Valley of Fire Set

I took my family to Zion and Bryce NPs for 2 nights and 2.5 days. Here are some shots of the trip. C + C welcome.

These first 2 are from Zion - Angels Landing and Weeping Rock trails. Both magnificent (the trails, not necessarily the photos!).

These are from Bryce. First is a pano (5 shot I think at sunrise). Second is on the way down Queens Garden trail. What you can't see is my 28 lb 2 year old son on my back, which made things interesting to say the least!

And here's one of my favorites from Bryce. Not sure the name of this hoodoo, if any, but we called it the Ram or Big Horn Sheep:

I still have some shots from Willis Creek Slot Canyon and Valley of Fire to process. I may post those once I do.

Haha, you digital guys never knew what Paul Simon meant. The saturation was amazing, as was the 3D sculpting of Kodachrome emulsion, and particularly suited for reds. Ektachrome was blue, Fujichrome was green...

I shot there often with Kodachrome.

It gets pretty bad sometimes. I once made a reference to Rod Serling while in a group of guys all of which were 30 years or so my junior and, of course, they all looked at me like I had two heads........'who the heck is Rod Serling?

I'm an early 80's baby and only seriously caught the photography sickness circa 2012. The thought of dodging and burning in a darkroom scares the hell out of me.

Got me laughing out loud.

I taught Photoshop— it's exactly like a wet darkroom. I built and used many outstanding facilities. Gas-burst E-6 and C-41 lines, Hope and Durst processors. Photoshop has a burning tool that looks like a cupped hand (that was the technique) and a dodge tool that looks like a blob on a wire (also The Way). The unsharp mask is totally a lithographers series of films that overlap and reveal the unsharp area from which to make a mask. Learn darkroom, learn photoshop.

I definitely do need to watch some Twilight Zone episodes. I saw the movie as a kid and it stuck with me. The girl with no mouth lived in my nightmares for years!
