was out hiking around today shooting waterfalls...came across a 32gb CF card...took it home, looked at the exif and no owner name...i ran the serial number through stolen camera finder which supposedly tells you if other images from the same camera are online somewhere...got no hits though

i'd like to be able to get it back to the person, it seems like it could've been a vacation? it's spread over the course of 10 days or so...any other ideas someone could think of that i'm missing

there's not much to go on from the photos...just a older couple and their son...the son is wearing a maple leafs hat though

Maybe post something on Facebook in groups relevant to the falls or that area?

Waterfalls? Then maybe it was in a park where there's a ranger station or the equivalent. If so, you could contact someone in charge who would have a Lost & Found file.

i was trying to look at more of the pictures, seems to be spread out quite a bit now...they hit up a few different spots...the waterfalls are small, so no groups really associated with it...they were here 2/17-2/29 from just these photos

Post in the local Craigslist lost and found. Maybe somebody will respond.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

This would make a nice human interest fluff story for your local TV news. If you can get one outlet to pick it up, perhaps others will follow.

i'm wondering if i contacted canon with the serial number of the 5DIII if they would be able to get in contact with the owner...i guess that would only be if it has been sent in though

meh, not looking to get on any news, just hoping to get it back to the person...i found a camera one other time, and after looking at the pictures, it was a girl who had done a ton of traveling, had tons of photos on the camera still, was able to determine that she had gone to a wedding in SF(also had photos of a bachelorette party) was able to determine the location of the wedding from the photos, and then from the future mrs. soandso the name of the groom...i contacted the venue and asked if they had a wedding the day of, and they confirmed it, so i sent it to the wedding venue, and they were hopefully going to contact the bride and groom

this one has nothing to really go on though...the good thing is it made me check my camera to see if i have the exif with my name in it...and surprisingly i did

Point was not publicity for YOU. Getting the photos back to the original shooter could use the publicity.

I admire all of the effort you put into getting that person's camera back to her. I don't think too many people would go to all of that work. My hat is off to you sir!
