Hello friends! It has been years since I have stopped shooting, but this past Christmas my girlfriend gifted me a DSLR.

Anyway, I went downtown and snapped a few pictures to get comfortable with my setup.

CC greatly appreciated!

Wow.........she gave you a 6D?? Dayum......

You better hang onto her. That's one fine girlfriend.

Not much to critique here. I like both of these. I might remove those 'danger' signs at left center of picture 2.

And mission was completed with proof shots. You are good to go and take more pictures.

Very cool signage! Where are these from?

A few comments...
#1 - Subject is smack dab in the middle of a sea of black making me lose interest quickly. A bit more of the light on the bricks would have been nice.
#2 - Not sure what the subject here is. Large vertical brick pillar breaks your composition into two pieces. I like the perspective of the top left sign. Perhaps go back and get the same angle but zoom in on the sign itself.

Your exposure looks pretty good in both to me. Neon is not an easy thing to shoot. Enjoy that camera. The 6D is a great gift. Mine has been gifting me with excellent images for almost 3 years now.
