I am shooting an indoors-turned outdoors under a gazebo in the last minute- wedding. Wedding will be at 2:30 pm and we are expecting a cloudy day with a bit of sun. I am thinking that I need to light the interior for the shots to be balanced. Was thinking about my two yn685 on stands. Now, for the trick question. How would you position them? It is a square pop up gazebo and I'm thinking in opposite corners, that way, no matter what side I shoot from, I can get good bounce front and back. I am thinking as well not to use ettl and to go manual, as light won't change much in the 30 minutes of the ceremony.

I shot a wedding like this a few years ago. I put my lights about 30' from the ends of the gazebo so as not to spoil the "look" of the wedding. If you look close you can see them in this image. I simply aimed the lights at the couple but tried to make sure that they would not cast shadows on each other.

Another wedding I shot was in Cancun. The gazebo was much larger and I had no choice but to light the interior. I used three lights for this shot. I didn't want to blow out the background behind the couple.

This is what the shot would look like had I not used any lights.

unfortunately my speedlights are no match to your lights! :)

Never thought of that placement, to be honest. Maybe by placing them nearer I'd be better off?

My lights are probably not much stronger than yours. I used two Cheetah light 180's and one Cheetah light 360. The 180's put out about as much light as 580EX.

Putting your lights closer to the action will obviously give you more light but don't put them so close as to be a nuisance for the audience. You really just want to "lift" the shadows a bit.

Why didn't you just mount the lights in the top and bounce off those white drapes?

Yes. I always shoot in manual for everything except when I have a speedlight on-camera and I'm bouncing it off a wall.

I didn't have anything with me to mount my lights other than my light stands. I was in Mexico and did not have room in my shipping case to carry anything other than light stands.

Bouncing lights (which is my favorite form of light manipulation on location) would have soaked up too much light, forcing me to use full power pops. This would have been extremely annoying to the guests.

Jim, Where are you lights in that last image? I would think they could be seen in the pull back, butI don't see them.

I see one on the left side of the gazebo, right behind the bridesmaids. I can't see one on the other side, but I assume there'd be one there too for balance (and judging from the shadows in the close up images). As for the third light? No clue.

Two lights are on either side of the B&G, in the corners. The third light is at the back of the gazebo, aimed at the B&G but with a grid on it to limit the spill.
