It looks like we’re finally going to see pricing and preorders for the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG HSM OS Art series lens this week, and maybe as soon as today.

It's not an opinion. It's a concern...

Opinions and Concerns are not mutually exclusive. You indeed do have an opinion and it is also a concern. I hope you are wrong however, I really want 3rd party lenses to acquire focus as quickly as Canon's can, and hold it no matter the action. Right now though, even today, I haven't found a Sigma that can acquire focus as quickly and with such authority as Canon. It's to be expected though, one has to reverse-engineer what the other designed internally.

I could be a player at that price.

I paid about that for my used Canon 70-200 2.8 V2 and it looked brand new. If the new Sigma AF performance in dim light is similar to my current 18-35 1.8 art, I will likely look for a clean used Canon V2 or pay the extra for a new copy.

A missed shot is of no use.

H@@@m, 1,300$ USD?
That's around $1,700CAD and on sale brand new Canon 24-70mm V2 is $2,000CAD, so less than $300CAD difference.

Now really sure.
One one hand we have the OS of Sigma and on the other hand we have the the better AF and weather sealing of Canon...

Looks like Tamron will be announcing their G2 version this week. And price a $100 less. Hmmm...

That link says neither detailed specifications nor pricing are available, but the author hopes it will be $100 less than the Sigma.

Not counting anything. The "hmmm..." is obviously questioning the info.

Evidently, it's not as obvious as you think.

In any event, Tamron's timing is interesting.

And it says "Expected availability: Fri Jun 23".
Does it mean it will start shipping tomorrow?

Or $400 more for the Canon? Still a tough decision. I was hoping to be surprised with a lower price to make my decision easier. This may just be one to wait on for reviews.
