This is a white light shot of the Sun on April Fools Day. Thousand Oaks filter on my Canon 500L + 1.4 TC. Atmospheric conditions were fair at best so I was pleased to be able to get what I did. The dot at the top right is Earth for scale comparison.

Looks great!

The scale is incredible when you think about how Earth can fit several times in the umbra of these spots, big great sources of magnetic polarity shifting and flux. We are smaller than sand by comparison!

Very best,

Very best,

Thanks very much. Scale and distance out there has always been awe inspiring in my astrophotography journey. It's funny what we "grains" consider large or far on our tiny planet.

Very nice photo. I like the color. Is that from the filter you used or from processing?

Thanks Ron. I have to spread the budget between day and night work. I'd love to have H-alpha solar capabilities but no funds remain. Yep, MalVeauX does amazing work and has some nice gear to do it right.

Thanks Dan. This is what you'll get right out of the camera using a Thousand Oaks SolarLite Film filter.

yes, they are good filters

I have one that fits my Celestron CPC925 and a smaller one that fits my sigma 500mm
