Hi,

I have a Canon setup and a Fuji [XT-10] setup as well. But I end up using more and more of the Fuji these days and simply love it. I am planning to buy the XT-20 soon and replace the XT-10. A long-term plan would be to replace the Canon lens arsenal once I am convinced of the video quality.
I stay in Bombay, India and simply put I won't be able to get my hands on the Fuji XT-20 here. But I am travelling to NYC for work next week and want to buy the XT-20 there. More so since the electronics ban on flying through certain cities & carriers to the US [I am flying Emirates]. Can't risk the camera in the cargo hold. So shall get my Fuji 18-55, hopefully packaged in a reinforced metal container, I wish.

But I am unable to find the XT-20 in the typical stores that I have been to before, namely, Adorama and B & H. Can someone shed some light on this. Do I prepay and book it with B&H and then hope it's available when I am there. Or there are any other stores in NYC [Manhattan, preferably] that I can approach?

Thanks for reading the long question.

Regards,
Gautam

This is a tough one, Gautam. No one can guarantee availability. You could try speaking with someone at the stores that you are comfortable with and see if one is willing to hold one for you. Keep in mind that while its not in stock, people can still order online at BH or Adorama to ship out when available (locking their place in the line), and when the these retailers do get stock they will want to fulfill the pending online orders first.

My suggestion would be to order one online for delivery to a friend/relative's whom you plan to visit. Amazon would be a good bet. If the camera is not delivered by a specific date before your arrival, you can cancel the order and try your luck at the retail stores.

As far as the airline problem is concerned, I believe Emirates is now allowing gate check-in for delicate electronic items to safeguard them from damage and theft. Check with them on your way in.

Thanks for the reply mate.

Pre-ordering is what I am looking at. Shall order it to a friend's address from B&H or Amazon. Hopefully, it comes through by the time I am there.

Got the email from Emirates about the hand-carrying service. Emirates always ensures top quality service and I have had wonderful experiences with them earlier which makes me want to go again on board it.
