So I've really been struggling with making a decision on my next camera. I'm keeping the 5D3 as a backup. I really want to justify the 1DX2, but after yesterday's shoot I came to the conclusion that I love my 5D3 and it does everything I need it to do. I think I'll buy a 5D4 and save a few bucks!

We went up at sunrise to get some pics of my buddy's plane. It was windy, so we didn't stay up long, but I managed to get a few for him - somewhere in the 500 range!

The shots in general are great, I would say technically basically perfect. I would though say that I thinnk the composition would look better if you friend had been flying from the other seat. I just don't like the way he is having to peer round the A pillar.

Thanks for the kind words.

I get what you're saying, but I don't think most of us would appreciate seeing a pilot flying from the right seat. It would look strange to see someone in the right seat with the left seat vacant!

Coming from a pilot, these shots are awesome. It looks like something you would find on the cover of FLYING or AOPA Magazine. If I were your friend I'd be very pleased with these.

Nice images. You put it on autopilot while you took the photos?

Thank you!

No, I am a pilot, but I have another pilot take me up for safety. The pilot I'm photographing has to watch me at all times, so the pilot of the photo plane is responsible for watching for traffic, obstacles, etc.

Good stuff there! Nice prop blur, good sharpness, interesting backgrounds. A couple of questions; What lens and shutter speed did you use? What was the photo ship? Were you able to open the window? Any extra image stabilization?

Thanks.
