Hello.

Does anyone has any experience of Tokina FiRIN 20mm f/2 lens? Any comparison particularly against the 'reference lens' Loxia? The price looks very good and if it is nearly as good as the Loxia, it will save me a lot of money. I am looking for the best possible wide angle lens that isn't quite as expensive as Loxia.

Thanks.

I already found reviews and comparisons on some other sites. The Firin clearly doesn't stand a chance in optical performance against the Loxia outside the center zone. So I'll pass on it and now I am looking at the Samyang/Rokinon lenses. I noticed there is also a new brand: Handevision IBERIT 24mm f/2.4; very inexpensive but no one has so far bothered to try it.

Remember you get what you pay for. If you want quality, you have to pay for it.

You said you will pass on the Firin, I suspect the same will be true of the Handevision IBERIT

I think Sony needs a wide angle fast prime. After 50mm Plannar f1.4 and 35mm Distagon f1.4, I feel like a fast prime in the 20-24mm range is missing from this class. The Loxia has got good reviews and must be an excellent lens (I am currently looking for one in the used market). However, a Sony wide agnel pime may even surpass it in optical quality.
