Does it have to be photoshop specific or any advanced editing software? This is getting good reviews.

I'm one who did not want to get CC. You have to subscribe for one. I read you lose all your edits if Adobe went down or something like that. That may have been mentioned and I'm struggling to keep up in the forums.
Yes with CC you have a monthly or anual subscription to pay, rather than the one off charge of traditioal licences.
The CC programs though are fully installed on your computer, just as with a normal licence, and all your files and work are stored locally. You don't even need a permenent connection to the net, it simply checks every 30 days or so that your subs are up to date. If you drop the subscription the program is deactivated next time it checks in. You still have all your files though.
Bridge, Adobe's filemanager, is free for use with a simple sign up account. It is nice because it allows you to see and preview PS's native .PSD files.
From a photographers point of view what happens with LR when you stop the subs is actually very good. LR continues to allow you to add images to the catalogue, and you can even add basic global edits using the quick edit tools.
You don't have access to the develop or map modules, but you do have the full range of export options, as well as the print module. I'm not sure about the web and book modules though.
This seems like a reasonable deal if you stop being an active photographer you stop your subscription, but still have access to all your existing images. You can still even add images if you only need basic edits.
The one thing you do lose is the mobile and web versions of LR. The mobile versions do rely on having Smart Previews of the images shared to mobile stored on Adobe's servers. Your master files are still on your computer, its only the smart previews online.
