Well, it is that weekend again. I'll be out shooting on Saturday from the general admission areas. Might take a camera on Sunday for the races, but by then I usually just watch. Since the shots are for my personal use, I don't mind if it is just practice or qualifying. They lean about the same.

Anybody else going to be out there?

I'll post up some pictures tomorrow and after.

Yup go every year since 2012. I'll have some pictures over the next few days.

Yep. Daunting process. I tend to take a lot of panning shots and at 10fps they add up. The bad shots are easy to weed out. Picking for a group of good ones takes longer. I'll be working on these for a few evenings at least.

Working on mine as well. Had a great time last weekend. Friday was hot and humid, Saturday was cold and windy, Sunday was pretty much perfect.

I was out there, snappin' away.... Good weekend of racing, but with Vinales crashing on the first lap, the contest with Marquez wasn't realized....

I got these shots in FP4 on Saturday morning. It was overcast, cold and windy, giving some tricky, low grip conditions to the track surface. Not a good day for MM93. He got his RC213V back to the garage for repairs and qualified on pole later in the day and won the race on Sunday. These shots were taken from the grand stands at Turn 15.

Nice capture there. Marc always seems to have some drama going on at CotA and then he just tears everyone a new one by getting pole and then winning. He is king of that track.

Thank you Jimil, I appreciate it. MM93 is an amazing rider. MotoGP has been going to COTA for 5 years and he has 5 pole positions and has 5 wins. Maverick Vinales (MV25) gave away his points lead to his team mate VR46 by throwing it away, like Rossi did last year.

Nice capture of the wreck. I have one where I had just climbed the stairs on the second bridge. Looked back and was just ready to shoot as Dovizioso crashed in FP3 at corner 2. Sparks everywhere. However, I hadn't even set the camera up for shooting, but just had is turned on. Fired away and got one that is okay. Should have done the initial set up at home. Just glad I was in continuous focus mode.

Thank you Rusty. I don't like the crashing, but it happens, and when it does, it's an opportunity to capture something that happens very quickly. Suzuki's Alex Rins broke his back in pre-season testing, broke his ankle on his Moto-Cross bike practicing and broke his wrist during practice at COTA. All in his first year in the MotoGP class. Thank goodness Marc Marquez was uninjured in his high side get-off.
