I'm selling my Art 24mm
When I do that, only lens I'll need the adapter for is the Art 50mm.
I like it a lot but had a shoot the other night at sunset. I was around 1/100 F2 and 640 ISO and it was fishingggggg for AF.

Will Sony native lenses focus better/faster?
I really don't wanna ditch my art series but this kinda has me worried since it almost ruined a proposal shoot (granted it was bad lighting against my advice to the client but either way)
I was gonna return the adapter to the store and use it towards a new lens. Only bad thing is I'll have to wait and sell my 50mm but I'm curious what is actually worth replacing it with? Idc about the f1.4. I just want good IQ and fast AF
Portraits are my only priority and honestly the 50mm never leaves my camera

I see I have like 3-4 Sony choices even tho I don't think I'd use a macro lens for portraits ? $250,$1000 and $1500?

Nick, I went from a 6D/50A to an a7r/55 1.8 about 18 months ago and it was a seamless transition.

The 50A and 55 1.8 are very similar in sharpness and rendering. The 50A has a slight bokeh edge, but the 55 focuses fast and true natively.

I have it now and only complaints so far are the CA haha
Seems decent. Seems a little less sharp on my a7rII but I just need to test it more.

Nice little cute lens so far tho

Honestly I am less than impressed with it. I don't know if it's just because I am used to the art series but it's hard to explain why I don't like it I just know that I don't really like it so far to be honest ha ha. I'm hoping eventually over time that changes but right now I'm kind of bummed out with this final product I've seen. Seems like it may not be the sharpest or it has a weird way of rendering stuff

Weird. Copy variation perhaps? The 55 is one of the sharpest lenses I've ever used of any brand. Has some Loca wide open but not too bad and not all the time. Could it be the zeiss rendering you don't like (high microcontrast)

I mean I love my zeiss 85mm
idk what it is but this lens just doesn't do it for me.
Sadly I'm kinda stuck with it for now.

I guess there is a reason sony made a few different 50mm lenses--different strokes for different folks.

The FE 55 is really good. One of the best 50mm lens.

I have a feeling you have a bad copy, should not be getting bad CA with the 55...

Maybe try The FE 50/1.4ZA ...It's an awesome lens...I liked it much better than the 55...Yes, the 55 is sharp, but the 50 is as sharp but has more character I think with the wider aperture.....very similar to the 35/1.4 (which is my favorite native prime). But I ended up trying all the 50ish choices and in the end I just adapted a 50L with an MC-11 and it's still, to me, the best 50mm...CA and all...it just has a look that I prefer.

Good luck, most all the 50's are pretty darn good though.
