We are going to be in Italy in June. I have a 24-70 and a Rok 14/2.8 to go with my 6D. Should I be looking at picking up a wider zoom, perhaps a 16-35 F4? I don't know if 24mm is wide enough.
Thanks!

Apr 23, 2017 22:11 | #5 I took my 24-70 and 16-35. I ended up using my 16-35 a lot more, mostly because I took a ton of exterior and ceiling shots. I think I would have regretted not taking it. We plan on going back at the end of the year, I'll definitely be taking the 16-35. I'm pondering even leaving my 24-70 at home this time. Canon EOS 5D MKIII

Apr 24, 2017 01:18 | #6 Yeah, I've been thinking about the 16-35 F4 as well. That's one superb lens based on all the images I have seen here, as well as the reviews, and the cost is pretty reasonable at under $900 for a refurb. The 11-24 is my dream lens, but the cost is daunting. I might rent one for the trip - gotta think about it. Sam

MatthewK Cream of the Crop More info | Apr 24, 2017 16:48 | #8 My widest when I went to Italy was 24mm, and I was constantly wishing for more. So, I eventually purchased the 16-35 for just such an occasion, if it were to arise again.

Apr 27, 2017 19:10 | #11 I went to central Europe last summer and truly regretted not having anything wider than my 24-70. The deficiency was most glaring inside or in front of the many beautiful old cathedrals, castles, and other buildings. Two weeks ago, I was watching the Canon refurb page for a couple of days thinking of pulling the trigger on the 16-35 F4, but snoozed and lost. 5D4 Gripped | 16-35 f4L IS | 24-70 f2.8L II | 70-200 f2.8L II IS | 85 f1.8 | 600EX-RT | 430EXII | YN-468II | YN-622c | 'Stuff'

A trip to Rome two years ago was the excuse I needed to upgrade my 17-40 f/4 L to the new 16-35 f/4 L IS. Being able to Hand Hold at 1/10 with sharp results would not be possible without IS.
