Florence is my favorite city in the world. My one suggestion is to get up really early there and hit the main area around the Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, etc. You can get some great shots without any crowds there. Have fun! Looking forward to seeing your pics.

Yeah, we have an airbnb reservation for an apartment 5 minutes from the Duomo. Really looking forward to it!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

You're going to have an awesome time! Florence is simply amazing. For an epic night shot, visit the Piazzale Michelangelo.

As for lens selection, I like what you are taking. You could probably get away with leaving the 24-70 and taking a 50mm prime, but that's just me :) The 70-200 f/4 would have been great to have when I visited (105mm was my longest). Mark my words though: you're going to LOVE the 16-35 f/4. Most used lens, by far.

After spending the last 2 days in Venice, all I can say is that 16mm isn't wide enough for the interiors.

Two weeks to go for the Italy trip, and 45 hasn't banned cameras on European direct flights yet! So far, so good, keeping my fingers crossed!

My kit's going to be a 6D with a Rok 12/2.8 fisheye, 16-35/F4, 24-70 II and 70-200/F4 IS. Will take a tripod along for night shots.

Planning to spend 2 days in Florence and a week divided between Rome and Venice. No time for Cinque Terre, Amalfi coast, Tuscany, etc on this trip! But there is always a next time!
