SURPRISE ingredient!

I've heard of some crazy things being used in food photography. anyone have some awesome food photos that they actually used some weird ingredients for? like oil for syrup or glue for milk or incense for steam or something? these tricks are fascinating

I have a book on food styling for film/photography. It is specifically on the styling, not photography. I haven't actually tried any of the tricks yet but lets just say that much of the food is inedible.

I have seen in most of the cases food decoration plays an important role in making a food shot great. And in case of using some special ingredient I have not heard of any strange thing yet, rather i guess sometimes editing in Photoshop also used!

Various You Tube videos have some behind the scenes when styling for food shoots. I've seen mention of chocolate syrup, molasses, concoctions using soy sauce and thickeners in some solutions...that is a creative field in itself! Some of the people in that area are pretty quiet in sharing their techniques.

They used to put marbles in the soup bowl to hold the vegetables at the top. I don't think that it's legal now. (Truth in advertising.)
