My first landscape

This is my first landscape. I am struggling to find something interesting to shoot. Please critique. This is an area of photography that I am just now starting to experiment with and I would like to improve.

I like the pic, if I had to find something wrong with it it would be the white house in the back on the left, distracts from the barn. My eye is immediately drawn to that house and it takes a second or two to even see the barn.

I agree. I remember that when I was shooting it I was wishing it wasnt there. If I keep looking I am sure I will find a better subject. Thanks.

QueenBee, Very nice. I agree that the wht.house kinda distracts. But it is a pretty scene.

i think it's a pleasing capture!...the composition is very good...the tree frames the scenery..and the coloring and lighting are perfect for this shot

quick question for you.....noticed you have a frame..what program are you using for your framing?...*looking for one*...

Watertolive: Mikes framer. He is a member here and designed the script. There is a link in the post processing forum. I think it is only about $9. It is a great framer and gives you a lot of options.

I had not noticed Dave. Thanks for pointing it out. Just last night I learned how to fix this kind of think in PS but I didnt see it in this shot. LOL

I like it. The framing of the scene with the tree on the right works well, and the barn is placed within the "rule of thirds."

The tree on the right seems to be fairly straight - the horizon may be that way because of a hill perhaps? I'd enable Rulers in Photoshop and drag a guide to the vertical corners of the barn since those are the only real verticals you can kind of rely on in this scene. Rotate the image to align the guide with the building and you'll be square. But again, in looking at the barn it looks pretty straight already.

Maybe crop just a smidge off the top? Focus more on the barn rather than the branches/tree.
