Apr 26, 2017 20:51 | #2 I bought the 77D for the 24 Megapixel Sensor (my 7D has 18), DIGIC 7 Image Processor (7D has DIGIC 4), noticeable faster auto focus, better dynamic range, electronic level in viewfinder and the price. It is an upscale version of the Tn series going with a moniker meant to convey 'like an nnD'. As Canon put it, "the EOS 77D DLSR camera, which represents a new category of cameras for advanced amateur photographers...Canon EOS 77D Camera For advanced amateur photographers looking to expand their knowledge and experience with DSLR cameras, Canon’s new EOS 77D is the ideal next step camera for them. The EOS 77D represents a new category of advanced amateur EOS cameras, a step above the Rebel series". Yet it is based upon Rebel sized chassis, not the nnD chassis. It is on evolutionary trees on the same branch as the earlier T6s.
It gets the 24.2-megapixel Dual Pixel CMOS with 45-point phase-detection AF and the same metering system that are in the 80D (but so does the T7i, just how subtle is the relative positioning?!). The difference?...a top LCD information display on the 77D which is missing on the T7i. The 77D has the rear quick control thumb dial. And the 77D has an eye-proximity sensor, and a dedicated button on rear for focus, and faster access to Exposure Compensation control. You need to give me OK to edit your image and repost!
