I am looking at some point to get an upgrade from my 350D, been shooting with this since 2007, and this is one of the cameras I was looking at as I don't want to spend a lot of money. How is this compared up against the T7i? Thanks! Canon EOS R6 | Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 | Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8L | Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L | Canon 430EX Speedlight Flash

How is this compared up against the T7i? Thanks! I feel like the 77D was a worthy enough upgrade from the 70D (wanted a lighter crop camera). The sensor is quite good in terms of dynamic range and the 24MP resolution gives a lot of cropping potential (i.e. digital zoom). Apricane flickr

Hopefully will have a new body in the near future, so far the 77D seems to be the one I am leaning to. I picked the 77D as a backup for my 7D2. I use the 7D2 mostly for birds and bugs and need a backup body when on trips. A second good use is as a light-weight walk-around camera. The 77D has just about everything I would like except for focus micro-adjust, and it is quite a bit lighter in weight than the 80D. The FMA is unnecessary if the lenses work well with the body, and mine do. Canon R5 and R7, assorted Canon lenses, Sony RX100, Pentax Spotmatic F

Both specs have been the reason why I chose the 77D (upgrading my 500D/T1i). Aug 19, 2018 21:58 | #117 I wanted to upgrade from my T2i and my local camera shop offered me a sweetheart deal on a like new 77D that they had sold the month before but the buyer changed his mind and decided to go Nikon. I went home and researched it for a couple of hours and went back and pulled the trigger for $600. Very glad I did. I mainly do astrophotography and nightscapes but 'm trying to branch out into nature and wildlife photography as well. I love that the autofocus is so much faster than my T2i. I also find the swiveling screen to be invaluable for the kind of work that I do. The ability to control shot intervals makes shooting my tracked images so much easier because I generally no longer need to attach an intervalometer. Being able to program time-lapse videos is opening up new vistas for me too. My only complaint is that it seems that the long exposure noise reduction only works if you're shooting in JPEG. I shoot in RAW, as I'm sure most of you do, and so I still have to deal with the noise by stacking multiple exposures, with multiple darks. I'm sure there are better cameras but I could afford this one and I'm very glad that I bought it. If anyone knows of a way to do "in camera" noise reduction on my RAW files please share it with me. Those are some very special images. I especially like the first, of the Trifid Nebula. If you have all that tracking gear, you might as well couple it with a great sensor such as in the 77D. Pigpen101 Goldmember More info Post edited over 5 years ago by Pigpen101. | Aug 28, 2018 17:47 | #120 So I'm about to update my "ancient" bodies over the next several months. First I'm getting the 6D MI because I want a FF and it's selling now for a cool grand. My second was a choice between the 7D MII or the 80D, mainly for sports. I was willing to settle for 7 FPS of the 80D because I'm used to that with my 7D. I'd love the 10 FPS of the 7D II but I think it's about $500 more. Now I see this 77D that I can get w/ a grip for $700!!! How is the focus tracking (AL Servo) on the 77D?? It's just OK on the 7D & that's w/ L glass, not as good with other glass. Any advice from someone that can compare the 77D to the 80D would be greatly appreciate. Either way, any of them has to be better than my T2i. Don't get me wrong, it has served me well but very old technology and not great for sports. Might just wait to see what Black Friday brings.
