What is the smallest (physically speaking) Canon DSLR that still offers manual Kelvin control in the menu? I would also like to be able to shoot a WB image and use that at time too. I would like to take short videos too!

Thank you.

The SL1, I believe, will do what you want.

Does Custom WB count, or are you looking for input of K value? My S95 has custom WB, but not input of K value.

No, I would like to enter the Kelvin value directly. My 7D supports this, and I like it.

No doubt you have your reasons.

I find absolute value K is useful specifically in the case of photo light sources which STATE the K value for that product (like tunsten photoflood lamps do so). But for everything else, since we are so often dealing in 'mixed light' we have no real value of any accuracy, and the value changes from one location in a room to a few feet away! So I find Custom WB of greater value in 'getting it right' in camera.

You are very correct. I just "like" it. I'm thinking the new 77D maybe the camera for me. Coming from a 7D. What I want is a baby 7D, 80D. I don't want big cameras anymore. I don't shoot pro.

Well, according to online manuals, only the 70D line of cameras has Kelvin direct input. The 77D, 100D (SL1) and such don't have it.

K value is important when you want the white balance in each frame to be the same, yet you want to use white balance creatively, and not just necessarily match the "real" or "correct" white balance of the scene.

I view white balance as a creative tool, much the way Faulkner viewed punctuation as a creative tool when he wrote, not as a standard to be adhered to.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Do you shoot RAW? The RAW file can be fixed if you miss your Kelvin setting. JPEG generally gives you much less adjustment.
