Looking at buying a new travel tripod for a mirror less camera (Either Fuji X-T2/T20 or Canon Eos M5). Did some light research in the net and saw the Zomei Z699C travel tripod (it's carbon fiber and costs $140 on amazon with generally positive reviews).

I'm wary of buying from a brand I don't recognize, but it fits everything I need for a great price. Does anybody have any experience with this Tripod or any other products from this company?

The alternative is Sirui T-1205x for $240, but no ball head (I have Markins Q10, but would have to buy another plate that fits the camera)

You make any decisions on the Zomei tripod? I've been looking at a few of them as well for my X-T1 and travel.

Any initial thoughts on it? Let us know how it works out for you, thanks!

Seems pretty solid. But it's a little bigger than I thought (Diameter wise). The other minor complaint I have is that the legs don't come out as smooth vs my old sirui aluminum tripod. With the sirui, gravity would pull all the legs to full extension when the twist locks were opened, but this one, they extend about 80% and you have to pull the rest down. Not sure if this is a CF vs. aluminum thing (my old Gitzo is starting to have this problem too). Ball head seems decent but feels a little cheap. Have yet to field test it.

Used the Tripod in LA. I used it with a Canon Eos M3 with various lenses, the biggest being a F4 70-200mm IS. The tripod was very solid even for long exposures. I took pictures of Griffith observatory with 30 sec exposures and the images were very sharp with no vibration blur. However, my camera set up was very light and there was little to no wind. On the negative side, the twist locks require almost a full turn to loosen and tighten (vs. Gitzo's 1/4 turn) which though minor, was kind of annoying to me. Although very solid, I am contemplating returning the tripod to get a smaller Sirui T1205x. I feel it is bulkier than I thought it would be and kind of overkill for my travel setup, which is a small mirrorless camera. The positives: very solid, comes with nice carrying bag, can convert one of the legs to a monopod, and has a nice strap and padding for carrying the tripod around when not in the bag.
