thanks Larry.
Mt. Rogers National Rec. Area.
Grayson Highlands.
We used the AT Spur Trail, the lower Scales Trail, the Crest Trail, the Rhododendron
Trail and re-connected to the AT again, then lastly the Massie Gap Trail back to the
Backpackers parking lot.
There are approx 77 miles of trails in that rec area so many loops are possible. We go
each year and vary the trails we use to form the loop.

Oh, Mt. Rogers NRA is near (east of) Marion,Va.

Thanks. Sounds like a good time. I should have known that it was Mt. Rogers.

We discovered several spots along the hike that would be wonderful for Milky Way...hard to find dark sky in our area but that area
gets fairly dark. So maybe something this summer we'll head back up...not to backpack. I won't carry a big camera on my back!
