I am ready to start experimenting with off camera flash, but I have a question If I buy a yongnuo 600ex flash to mount on my 5dm3 and mount my 430ex ii on a yne3rx receiver can I turn the yn600ex flash off but still use it to trigger the 430ex?

Have you looked at the Godox TT685c and X1Rc receiver? What are your future flash needs?

Forget about the fact that myself and others have had some bad luck with the Yongnuo products but stop and think about where do you go down the road when you decide that Speedlites are too limiting on power and the types of modifiers used. The YN600 and YNE3-RT lock you into the Canon Wireless RT system which has very few options for future growth.

The Godox 2.4G X system offers numerous options not offered by any other flash manufacture at this time. http://flashhavoc.com/godox-flash-system-overview/ (external link)

The answer to your question is Yes. Most Master flash units have the ability to disable the flash from firing to where it is working strictly as a transmitter. Both the YN600 and TT685 have this ability.

Thnx for the reply, my future needs, lol I have no idea, I'm sure either system would be able to do whatever I needed.

I just hear so much talk about the yongnuo rr system.

I agree with agv8or. The YN RT system is nice if you only want Canon or YN speedlites (and don't need AF assist, YN's suck at that). Godox gives you much more flexibility in choosing more powerful options, but no direct compatability with the Canon RT system. The last I heard, the competing Orlit system (directly Canon RT compatible) had issues communicating with YN, but maybe that's been worked out now. That would broaden your options by a bit if you went with the YN/Canon system.

I've got both Canon/YN and some Adorama R2 gear (same as Godox X1). They both work well. Godox has made the X1T a bit cumbersome to use sometimes because they've crammed a ton of features into a unit never designed for all of it, this makes some features almost hidden... but who wants to complain about more added features? Not me!

The Canon/YN system is probably easier to learn and use because of the nice big LCD menus that spell everything out. Hopefully the upcoming Godox X2T (or whatever its called) will fix that.
