How to trade photography gear on POTN

I want to possibly explore trading gear within POTN.

I have bought and sold many times here with great experiences. I was hoping to get some input from people who have done it here.

How do you exchange the gear?

Do you just mail it to the other person and they do the same?

How do the the two parties protect themselves?

Or am I better off selling it and then finding what I need used?

Nikon D850 and a bunch of stuff, I have learned a lot here when I was shooting Canon, staying to keep learning..."Every time I set up I learn something new".
