What a great set of images! All are unique and interesting to me.
M Six's "The Shopkeeper" looks very much at home in the period surroundings - the corner of the log construction of the building in the background goes a long way to providing environmental context for the character. This image also shows that environmental context is not just about place - it is also about time.
Paul B's "Perspective" is quite unique in that the subject itself is a representation of the context around it. What a creative take on the theme!
Texcam's lone pine employs a creative use of light as the backlit subject is shown against a background of its frontlet brethren. And hence we see that the pine is not really alone, but part of a vast community. And all of the dead trees (beetle kill?) show the uncertainty of the lone pine's future.
Teekay's Goose is particularly clever, as the Canadian flag in the background shows not only the area in which the goose lives, but represents the country that is the source of it's common name.
Old Crow's Hand in Hand shows one of the nicer environments in which humans can find themselves. As soon as I saw that, it made me think, "I would love to be there in the fog and mist". What a beautiful setting for a walk!

"Environmental Portrait"
as per Wikipedia:
"An environmental portrait is a portrait executed in the subject's usual environment, such as in their home or workplace, and typically illuminates the subject's life and surroundings."
We often think of environmental portraits, or portraits in general, as featuring people as their subjects. I want to open this up to wider interpretation, so that the subjects can be whatever you like. The only stipulation is that the image show the subject in the midst of its usual surroundings, so that the surroundings tell the viewer something about the subject.
The challenge begins when posted, and will end on Wednesday, May 10th, 2017 at midnight EST.
The winner will be announced shortly thereafter. (Or possibly the next morning.)

CHALLENGE RULES:
1. Camera: Any DIGITAL CAMERA is allowed, (not just DSLR)
2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size: See standard P.O.T.N. Image Posting Rules.
4. Post Processing: Do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting: ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.
6. Details: Show camera model & lens used. Post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
7. Commenting: Please, NO COMMENTING DURING CHALLENGE feel free to comment in this thread after a winner is declared.
8. Content: Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.
