Maybe I'm going crazy but I swear the other week my 1DX's shutter suddenly sounds different. Didn't think much of it, but today I noticed there's a very quiet whirring sound after every shot. You can really hear it if you put your ear close to the camera/lens mount. I've tried a couple different lenses, so that's not it. Maybe it's totally normal. Does any one mind checking their 1DX to see if it has the same sound?

Are your lenses stabilized? In other words are your lenses marked as IS or OS or VC?

I tried it with a couple non IS lenses and still the same thing. Also, the same thing without any lens at all.

I hear it on mine...it's the sound of the mirror charging motor finishing it's wind cycle.

Thanks for checking. Do you mind checking if you hear the sound when taking a pic in Live View? Also, when exiting Live View (back to viewfinder)? I contacted Canon and they said theirs seems to do the same thing, but not in Live View. Mine does it in LV (although not as loud.)

Mine does it in live view, not during viewing, but only when the shutter fires - it's the cocking mechanism for the shutter being charged. Leaving live view it does it too, as that is the mirror's charge motor returning the mirror to the lower position.

It's the Flux Capacitor spinning down.. if it didn't do this, your images would be from 1892.

I haven't heard this on my 1DX - but your post gave me a damn good laugh!

If you put the shutter mode into Silent, you'll really hear it then after you let go of the shutter button.

I can't hear it at all when I try in Silent mode.
Edit: Rereading your posts, I think we're talking about 2 different things. I am hearing a sound after the shutter fires. The sound lasts from about 1.5 or 2 seconds. It's almost like a seashell to your ear sort of sound.
