River Otters, NW Ontario

Hey folks....been out of sight for a bit, but slowly working my way up the gear ladder again so have been out doing some shooting. Last weekend were some otters moving up and down river right at the edge of town, and I was lucky enough to spend some time observing / photographing them. No out of water shots (that's my goal though!), still great to see these critters close up.
Day 1's viewing began with what appeared to be a mating pair, plus two stragglers just following along (Last years young? Rival suitors?), at one point one of the stragglers decided to swim close for a better look (pic 2).... Day 2 there was just the one passing by, so mostly swimming past shots. Hopefully more to come!

Every time I see an otter here in Dryden I don't have my camera with me - pretty much the same with moose, bear and mink too....
Maybe I need to change my surveillance techniques.

Thanks Rob. Having your gear is no guarantee, a few years back as I was walking a roadway here a Martin came trotting up the road...we both kinda looked at each other for a second before he darted into the brush...I was too surprised to even register the camera in my hand!
