"Closeup" for purposes of this challenge means finding or creating a big impression out of something small. I am sure you all have taken that image of something or someone that you had to get close for what you wanted to capture.

The challenge begins when posted, and will end on Thursday, May 18th, 2017 at Noon EDT. The winner will be announced shortly thereafter.

CHALLENGE RULES:

1. Camera: Any DIGITAL CAMERA is allowed, (not just DSLR)

2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.

3. Size: See standard P.O.T.N. Image Posting Rules.

4. Post Processing: Do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.

5. Posting: ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.

6. Details: Show camera model & lens used. Post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.

7. Commenting: Please, NO COMMENTING DURING CHALLENGE feel free to comment in this thread after a winner is declared.

8. Content: Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.

9. Have questions? PM me.

10. Have FUN!

THE WINNER ALWAYS SETS THE THEME FOR THE NEXT CHALLENGE, POSTS IT AND JUDGES IT - BE PREPARED!

A new challenge should be posted ASAP after you have been declared the winner.

Well, I asked for it and you gave it to me. Usually I can pick the best image in any of these contests but this group came from some people who really like to shoot close-ups. This is a very hard one but I will give it a try:

Teekay: Wow, just Wow! Sharpness and iridescence from a point and shoot camera.
Old Crow: Fantastic capture ----- and great eyelashes. The reflection does draw you in.
Popsandme: I think this is a baby tooth??? Great reflection - what was the surface?
M_Six: Super job of focus management. I can only get this result by luck. Great detail.
Darkslinger: Another fantastic job of focus management. This is a truly beautiful image and the color is perfect.
Texkam: Mouthwatering and great reflection in the fork. Could be a restaurant ad.
airfrogusmc: Abstract enough to be interesting and great composure. Not sure what this is but that may be what you were going for.
philk54: What an interesting capture. It makes me want to see more and I have to know what animal this is?

Teekay by a nose or beak. Everyone else is Honorable mention.

Take it up Teekay and Congratulations.

Thanks, Paul, I'm honoured indeed, given all the excellent entries for this subject. It's always good to realize that, for many subjects, even the older cameras in the long line of Canon S-series and G-series could give good results. Most of my own best shots weren't taken with a DSLR.

The downside is that I'm now stuck with dreaming up and running the next challenge. I'll try for tomorrow morning.-?

Phil, from the mega-claws I'm guessing that's a grizzly and it's a crop of a full frame?

Kudos, teekay. Fantastic image.

Love Don's eye closeup, too.

Good round this week.
