Its not so much the editing that strikes as the fact that those should pads look way too big for that young man.

Get a good breeze under those babies and he'd lift off. :p

You did a good job getting him away from the background, this really adds to the images.

I like the B&W conversion of #2.

Both shots are symmetrical, but this can often work for a guy. Have you thought about adding a football for a prop?

Photo #1 has too much magenta tint in it.

I was worried it had to much magenta..i went back and forth. Yes I was going to add a football and some black under the eyes, but it was 15 mins b4 bedtime so I just ran out and took a few shots :-)

Thanks for feedback!

I like the shot.

For kids I like to play around w/ them and make them pop. It's not for everyone, but kids tend to love it.
Hope you don't mind....

I would prefer the boy centered a little bit more. Right now, there's hardly any space to the right edge of the frame.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Agree with above. Stronger composition if he was centered... there's nothing else in the frame that matters, except him.

Thanks everyone. I was worried if I was centered I would be told it was to centered

I agree it would be good to adjust the crop to move him more towards the centre of the frame. But I would still leave him just a little to the right of centre. The lean of his body shape favours that. But since his eyes are looking directly towards the camera in both shots, you aren't going to be able to add dynamism to the image by significantly off-centering the subject and putting space in front of his eyes.

More generally, I do like to play around with off-centre framing for portraits. It's a useful trick to add some extra dynamism or - if you go against the obvious - a bit of tension into a composition. But as soon as you make a habit of something or apply it as a rule, it pretty much ceases to be interesting or useful. In this case, I agree with the other comments (and your own gut feeling) that a pretty much centred subject would work best.

Yep ... those latest crops must have been posted while I was working up my contribution. Definitely prefer these.
