Howdy all,
After hearing about the lawsuit against Planes of Fame from Yanks and a few others, I wasn't sure there was going to be an airshow this year. I was ecstatic to hear when it was postponed and agreed to be held after the airshow was completed. Anyway...here are some of the shots I came away with. It was pretty overcast both days so really required quite a bit of overexposing to bring out the colors in the planes and jets. Let me know what you guys think.

You did GREAT because you knew to overexpose. I'm always trying to explain (mainly to people shooting R/C which have even more sky per frame) to expose for the plane & not the general scene. WELL DONE.

Nice on the F35..what an ugly day both days were. At the end on Sunday it started to pour.

Great shots, especially love the P38, personal favorite plane. Is the P40 shot something you put together or were they that close in formation? If it's not a constructed shot, I'm totally surprised as few if ever have I seen formation flying anywhere near that close. I realize the lower plane appears to be ahead of the upper, but still intriguing.

Thanks for sharing.

Re ugly days my local air show (Wings over Gatineau) was held April 30. The forecast was for a cold day with rain arriving in the afternoon. We sat through ice pellets falling for a bit more than an hour, & that turned into rain as the temp just edged over 32 F. They did their best to put on the show but had to cut the Patrouille de Frances performance short when it really started raining & they kept disappearing into the low cloud base. That was a nasty day. My photos turned out OK but it was disappointing.

Answering the question about the P-40s flying close together, yes, they did fly that close in formation on a couple passes. It was really fun to watch and photograph these planes.

Very nice. I like your F35 shots. I was going to go on Sunday, but it was raining in Tustin in the morning so I just decided to sit this one out.

These are a masterclass in technique, both exposure and especially slow shutter speed panning for prop blur.

Great series, thoroughly enjoyed them, thanks for sharing.

Sucks when that happens during an airshow :(

Thanks for the nice comments all! Easier to pull some drama out of these shots compared to boring blue skies ;-)a
