I've seen a couple of these for sale at the £2500 range. Can anyone who has one or had one give me input as to the image quality please as I'm considering getting one?

The Canon 600mm or 600mm II lens sample photo archives might be useful for you.

Both of these threads that you linked to are for Image Stabilized lenses - the version 1 and version 2, respectively.

I believe that the lens the OP is referring to is the non-stabilized version that was made many, many years ago. That is why he is seeing them for only 2,500 pounds.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

That seems to be a good deal. I was curious to check TDP: It shows the V2 lens significantly better at f4 but at f5.6 the V1 is much closer.

Don't forget performance with extenders, unless 600mm is all you need.

That's suspiciously cheap as they're usually £3500-4000 in that condition.

Yes I must admit I am a little dubious. There are 2 listed, both at £2500, both from the same seller.

I would jump on it. The seller has a 100% rating over 98 items. What's dubious about that?

Anyway, if you do get ripped off and the seller never sends you the lens, you just contact PayPal and they give you all of your money back. It's really easy and risk-free. I've done it before. No worries.

The doubt could be about stolen equipment (and seller might not be aware). Maybe do a serial number check before purchasing.

Much of the feedback is as a buyer and the previously sold items include shoes and video games....nothing within 10% of the value of this item.

Gave it a miss as suspicion was too much and the fact that the lens was located in Ireland didn't help as I'm not too sure whether that falls within Paypal's surety remit or not. So I may have missed out however I haven't been fleeced either. I can recall a similar eBay item some time ago where the seller, after I had contacted him, told me his Paypal account was temporarily closed for technical reasons so could I please transfer the money directly. Yeah right. This particular seller has another 600mm f4L IS but I've gone off the idea now.

Poor dude probably got hacked. . Even so, if you had bought the item, you would have gotten your money back from PayPal - they are great at always giving you 100% of your money back any time you are ripped off. . So you really have nothing to fear.

Tom I doubt he's been hacked.
Most likely he/she is a scam merchant and has been reported to Ebay by a potential buyer resulting in account removal.
