I purchased the Flashpoint R2 Zoom Li-on flash for my Canon camera in March. I also have the transmitter and receiver combo. I've mostly used it mounted to the camera without issue since buying it but now I've run into a problem.

I've been using a flash bracket with my Canon 6D where the Flashpoint transmitter is on the camera and the flash is on top of the flash bracket. In this position, I cannot get the flash to fire at all. When I remove the transmitter from the camera and fire the status button it will also fire the flash without issue, but it also won't work if I position the transmitter below the flash. Flash is able to fire once again if the transmitter is above or to the side of the flash, just not below.

This strikes me as very odd and defeats the purpose of me using it off camera in this way (I need to use a flash bracket for an upcoming wedding). Could my flash be defective in some way?? Is there a line of sight issue going on I'm not aware of? The batteries on all units are fresh and working fine.

Thank you for any help you can offer to this perplexing issue! I'm also emailing Adorama about this as well.

This is a well known problem....the distance between the transmitter and receiver has to be something like 2 ft or better....There are a number of posts
referencing the issue. I believe there is a mode that you can put the transmitter in so that it reduces the radio power and get a work around.

1. Make sure you have V15 on the trigger:
Turn the X1 off. Hold the Mode button, and turn it back on, while still holding the mode button. The Version number should be there.
If it’s not 15, then you need to upgrade.

2. If you have version 15 (or later) and you want to enable close distance mode:
Turn the X1 off. Hold the TEST button and turn it back on, while still holding the TEST button. The red light next to the button should blink a few times and then the trigger will turn in.

Hope this helps,

Thank you, I was not able to find a solution when googling Flashpoint but I realize it's a rebranded Godex so perhaps I should have searched there. Once again, much thanks!

My Flashpoint Zoom R2 Li-On Doesn't fire, not even when I push the test button. I only had it for 1 yr and hardly used it. It is used on a canon 6D Mark 11.

Are you sure your X1T-C's firmware is at v15 or later? Holding down the MODE button while you turn it on will show you what version is currently loaded.

Holding down the TEST button by itself does not engage "close mode". You have to hold down the TEST button while powering on the X1T. The Status light will blink to indicate "close mode" is active.

If you are not using an X1T, but an XPro, X2T, or R2 Pro II, there is a DIST C.Fn in the Menu that you can set to 0-30m instead of the default 1-100m.
