You're allowed to do that? Did you have to have a professional in to check and approve?

Actually, No :p
It was about 18 years ago and seems to have worked nicely..

In this life on Earth, the most important thing to me is family and friends. I've been blessed with both and find my photography has been another means of enjoying family time and make many new friends of all age groups.
The photos below are far from my best I've taken this spring but fit the time for the theme and many memories were documented as well.

This photo is of my Grandson as a relief pitcher. His last game as a junior in high school.
The conditions were terrible on this day, winds above 45 mph at times made things interesting for all involved.

The second photo shows years of memories and stories to be told by those involved although it would not be considered worthy of keeping by most standards.
Number 10 is a Senior that had just played for his last time for this school and with his team mates. He also broke the all time career hit record at our school by 4 runs but it wasn't enough and the team took 2nd place in districts. #3, another Senior, his last game and off to college in a different direction. # 17, my grandson will be a senior next time they play and will be missing the guys he has played with since they were 8 years old. The score board shows the sad results for us and reminds me of the strong wind on this day that resulted in numerous home runs and a lopsided high scoring game.
I remember when I didn't place much value in school sports, was not into photography and would never dream of traveling two thousand miles a year to watch them play. Much time, 43 years to be exact has passed since I graduated from the same school that my grandchildren now attend. I feel that I've worked hard many of those years for my home, farm, income, tools, hobbies but the most enjoyment for me always lies in my family and friends. My hobby of photography has led to making many new friends and I'm hanging out with teenagers, their parents and grandparents, never a dull moment in my life because of them.
I share my images with many of the students and their parents and if I go to enough games, rewards banquets, jr/senior proms I snag at least one great photo of each one of them that they
appreciate having. These images I share may mean much more to them as the years go by.

Very Nice Steve.:-)

Came outside to find this today..
I've not seen this cactus ever put out more that 1 blossom at a time.
Flowers and plants are important to me and take quite a bit of my time^ .. .. which seems to go by so quickly..

my boys are important to me...
apparently at some stage they grow up & stop needing to be transported to all manner of activities, but in the meanwhile I do enjoy taking them to football on Saturday mornings.

The important matter that's had me in a state of frustration all week is the mass of detail and problems in getting this to function:

I posted these two images using a Rube Goldberg workaround for what should be far easier.

^ I feel your pain, as I rebuilt my work laptop thru the week, and at the same time got a new phone. Can't begin to describe how difficult some of the process is when you have no idea what the passwords are/were...

Thanks, joeseph, for your sympathy. I know the passwords. They're written on little pieces of that old-fashioned fibrous stuff that comes in flat sheets and can be cut to any size–you know, P-something. The difficulty now is that the Canon software I used for putting images into the computer and editing them doesn't work with Apple's new OS.

This is surely a very deep, thought provoking topic. I have way too many things that I consider important - not just on a personal level but on a local and global level. But for the sake of sanity - mine and yours - I shall pick just one.

How about this for veering off the beaten path? This is a concourse at a basketball stadium. I walked all the way around. I counted more than a 100 trash receptacles. And the number of recycling containers? A paltry three like this one in the shape of a pepsi bottle. I shudder to think the amount of garbage that an event here would generate. Even if there are a bunch of "Green" folks in the mix, how many would have the desire to push through the crowd to find the recycling bin? I don't consider myself to be a social activist, but I wish people would be provided with the means and the education to develop environmentally friendly practices. Sorry for the rant, but you asked and I delivered :-)

I'd say you drove that laptop till the wheels fell off...

I am always taken aback when I find that my software no longer works with my hardware!
Then the new software has a learning curve that is very steep

The third essential component is motivation. How do you instill that? Being in the Bay Area, we have more-convenient provisions for separating discards. Many trash containers on sidewalks have a compartment at the top for cans and bottles.

As you can see, though, not all pedestrians use the compartment as intended. (Sorry, joayne, this is an old picture, posted only as a reply.)

Totally agree. It breaks my heart when I see garbage in recyclables. Just because there is a bin out there doesn't mean that you can just junk whatever you want in it. I don't mind people throwing recyclables in trash. I have no qualms about doing some dumpster digging to rescue them and put them where they belong, but what about the other way around? All the good work of a few folks ruined just because someone didn't pause to read the labels.

At our workplace we have color coded the bins - blue for recyclables, green for compost, gray for regular trash. Even then there is contamination. And we are taking about highly educated people who do not want to take the time to figure out what is what. I'm afraid this is a problem that needs a very rapid solution, like yesterday.

The laptop upgrade still gives me trouble, but I managed a slightly easier workaround for the missing software.

Safety is important to me. Yesterday, out shopping for food, I happened on this:
