I've been wanting a photo of this bird for several years and the only time I see one is when it's in heavy brush. I was surprised when I found this guy singing. It was a good morning for me.

Thanks Ed. I was pretty thrilled to see one in the open and even more so to catch him singing. All I've ever heard them do before is chatter.

I'm west coast, so I've never seen or heard one.

Congratulations! It is always a thrill to get a photo of a bird that has long eluded you. I had the same issue with Common yellowthroats (as well as a bunch of other birds!), but once I got one, I all of the sudden didn't seem to have trouble finding others, so maybe that will happen to you to.

Tim

Thanks Tim. Finally saw the sun again today so I headed back to the same spot and never saw or heard another one. I also didn't see any Yellow Warblers like I did the last time. This place is just 20 miles from home so I'll be back a few more times before the skeeters come out.

Nice. They are a beautiful bird. But rarely stay still for long. Good shot.

Think it's a rule in the bird world -the smaller the bird, the quicker and more "oftener" it moves!
This is what I call an Audubon quality shot. Very well done, ms.
