I have two Rebel T6. I have noticed that there is a slight background noise that is recorded when I use the movie mode. This happens with both the Rebel T6 cameras. I notice the the sound is less when I use the Canon 18-200mm compared to the Tarmon 18-270 lens. Its a slight noise sounding like the focus motor is running while I am recording.

Have you tried to put the lens AF-MF switch on MF to see if the noise goes away? Or, if the lens is image stabilized, turning off that feature on the lens?

you're right, turning off the image stabilizer stopped the noise. Not sure why the noise with the stabilizer. Turning off the auto focus did not stop the noise.

Well mostly because the IS system in the lens is an electromechanical device that is moving a couple of largish chunks of glass, and the related support structure around at high speed. Generally you have two options here, you can either do it quietly, or you can do it cheaply, but generally you can't do both. Although fortunately the gap between quiet and cheap has been getting a lot smaller in the last couple of years. I guess the fact that DSLRs now do very high quality video has been a big driving factor in that development. In the same way that it has been a factor in the development of quiet AF systems.

I have posted a thread about this, with no replies so far. Even with image stabilization off and manual focus turned on, there is a sound coming from the camera body when shooting a movie. I tried setting the camera dial to "M". The sound is sometimes not there. What is odd is that even in auto-focus mode, my old T3i never had such a noise coming from the camera body.

You might mention WHAT MODEL of camera is experiencing this noise issue.
