Depends on which hemisphere you come from as to what you would call this lovely lady, I have been having fun taking photos of spiders on a mirror but have come to realise that I need to have a front surface mirror to get a clean reflection. This is my latest and also a comparison photo to show her size. The coin is 19.41mm or just over 3/4"

Every Black Widow I have seen has had zero markings on her back. Which is probably why we don't call them Red Backed.

 :p

Here is a thread about getting clean reflections. Not sure if I mentioned it in that thread, but other colors work too.

Thanks for the tips, I have also seen on youtube how to make a regular mirror into a front surface one, so I will give that a go as well
I just checked mr google and this wiki came up explaining the different types of Widow spiders

Just solved my problem with not having a front surface mirror
Went to the local T.V. repair shop and they had half a dozen rear projection T.V. mirrors out the back and was happy to get rid of one at no charge

Score

Now I will have no excuses for not having good quality reflection photos :-)
