I used the 400AW for years and still have the 500AW, but except for day visits to the zoo try to avoid carrying them for too long. Superb padding for your gear, but the shoulder straps feel uncomfortable after a few hours. With the same weight or even heavier weight inside I do not feel the shoulder straps of my Lowe Alpine Airzone or my Osprey backpacks and enjoy better back ventilation with them. I must concede though that ease of access for photo gear is easier with the 400AW and 500AW. As for air travel, both of them are too heavy compared with the standard backpacks I use and quickly get me to the limit imposed on carry-ons if i try to use the capacitiy they offer.

very durable bags they make and compact too.
